These products are serums, or other products such as moisturizer, which feature vitamins to help the skin when applied topically. Including vitamins in skincare is a great way to reap the benefits of the vitamin directly on your skin. Not to mention that the benefits of intaking the vitamin through your diet are slightly different to the benefits of applying them directly onto your skin, as the vitamins are absorbed through the skin directly.

 

For example, Vitamin A, when consumed through one’s diet, mainly contributes to one’s vision, growth, and immunity. However, when applied topically onto the face, the effects are different. Vitamin A, also known as Retinol, helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles by neutralizing free radicals in the skin which helps to increase collagen and elastin production for a “plumped” effect. It has also been shown to improve skin texture and tone.

Its antioxidant properties means that it helps to fight the effect of free radicals, preventing oxidative damage to our cells and therefore slowing signs of aging. And not only that, what makes Vitamin E special is that it is also moisturizing and helps improve skin barrier function. It is natural humectant, meaning it attracts water, and it is also a natural emollient, meaning it traps the moisture as well. On top of that, it has anti-inflammatory benefits to naturally soothe the skin and also helps strengthen the skin barrier against sun damage. Overall, it’s an absolute superstar of a vitamin which has a countless number of benefits for the skin.
